We are a team of Ruby developers building an awesome Ruby application. We're a mostly remote team, with a few developers in Ghent. We're looking to strengthen our team with a remote Ruby developer.
If you’re any good at Ruby, the chance that you’re fiddling your thumbs at home, anxiously refreshing your inbox 20 times a minute hoping for a job offer, is rather slim.
We know how it is.
Which is why we’ll try to sell ourselves to you here.
Ahum. Here it comes.
What makes the six-people dev team at Silverfin special?
First of all, we build a hell of a product. Just to give you a sense of the scale, our largest table has 2B rows. We don’t just build it for the sake of it. Silverfin solves a very real problem: it automates and improves a large chunk of the repetitive tasks accountants spend their time on.
Most of us work remote, in France, Estonia, Slovakia and Brazil. Without Slack we’d be lonely, now we just zap in and out of the zone as we wish.
We’d be really happy to welcome you in our #dev channel - mind you, we make sure regularly get to see each other IRL too. Twice a year we fly the team together.
If this sounds good, here’s the bit about the job, and why it’s so challenging
Some say we’re dragging accountants screaming and kicking into the 21st century, but we’re actually trying to keep that kicking and screaming to a bare minimum.
You'll be working on both backend and frontend, with a healthy mix of ruby, coffeescript, slim,... You'll get features to develop independently with the occasional bug fixes. You'll be writing both integration and unit tests for these features and participate in our peer code reviews.
Some of our challenges
Parsing and processing lots of data in flexible financial reports
Developing a textual framework to use with continuously changing financial data
Synchronisation with lots of external APIs
Creating beautiful reports/pdfs reflecting the identity of the customer
You're working with rails because you love it
If you have experience with optimising rails performance or you have experience with devops, that's a plus but not necessary.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re ready to help us change the world of financial services.
